When it’s all too much, we need Rest Stops.

Rest Stops is group, somatic

co-regulation with Mother Earth.

We’re not meant to do this alone.

Together is our nature.

At Rest Stops, we cultivate nervous system regulation through somatics, tactile play and group rest.

This is what we’ve been longing for. Reserve your spot now.

We gather to slow down, play, and rest.

We slow down to interrupt the modern rush.

We play to awaken our aliveness.

We rest to replenish our shared wisdom.

Through somatic, tactile practices, we regulate together with Mother Earth.

Rest Stops is another way of being.

We forget that we are nature.

Being together with Mother Earth reclaims this.

Rest Stops is led by artist Brooke LaGrand. Throughout her various careers as an international ESL instructor, Patternmaker in the NY fashion world and now at home creating a simple life with her family, she has integrated the intentional practice of somatics, tactile play and rest. With Rest Stops, she gathers us to do the same.

Our collective soul longs for embodiment.

Alongside these Rest Stops gatherings, Brooke is looking for partners to create a pop-up public park with sculptural treehouses, textile resting nests and luxury compost toilets.

Rest Stops reclaims the roadside rest stop as a sanctuary for the nervous system.

In a world of overload, this is the communal slowing down we’ve been longing for.

FAQ

What is accessible? A paved path for wheelchair accessibility beside our grassy gathering spot. Nearby there is a portable bathroom.

What do I bring? Bring yourself, just as you are. All are welcome. Also, bring a water bottle. If there is something supportive that you’d like to have by your side (a talisman, teddy, pillow), feel free to bring it. Cellphones will be off and put away, the Luddite way.

Is Rest Stops a series that builds over time or is each gathering similar to the last one? Each Rest Stops gathering is structurally similar but every experience is different based on the factors of each unique gathering – our collective energy, Mother Earth’s mood, varying somatic practices and play.

Would if there is a part of me that feels too vulnerable being with others like this. That makes sense! And you are not alone. When these parts arise in us, we encourage ourselves to notice and allow that part to be heard without judgment. Slowly and gently, attuning together, we show our nervous systems that we are safe in this moment.

Who is leading this? Rest Stops is led by artist Brooke LaGrand. She feels our collective soul’s longing for tactile and embodied experiences.
